Background of MDFA

Masaka District Farmers Association Ltd (MDFA) is a non-government farmer owned organisation that was established in 1992 and registered in 1998 with the Registrar of Companies as a Company Limited by Guarantee. MDFA is affiliated to Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE). We are gender sensitive organisation currently reaching 2,056 females and 1,500 males in over 100 farmer groups within Masaka City and District.

Goals and Objectives

We are currently reaching 3,556 people in over 100 farmer groups within the sub-counties of Buwunga, Mukungwe, Bukakata, Kabonera and Kyanamukaka in both Masaka City and District.

To unite and harness all farmers engaged in agro industry in Masaka District.

To establish a common front and forum for all agro-related associations and organisations in Masaka District.

To amplify the farmers’ voice when engaging government and development partners.

Promotion of modernization, diversification, irrigation, biodiversity and agroforestry.

To develop advanced agricultural industries involving manufacturing of final products.

To link farmers to sustainable agro-industrial markets and useful market information.

To increase access to financial services by strengthening Masaka District Farmers SACCO.

To ensure efficient service delivery through membership, subscriptions, donations and fundraising.

To promote sustainable agricultural land use management and good agronomic practices.

To promote the empowerment of women, youth, children and persons with disabilities.

To promote joint decision making in households through gender mainstreaming.
